Spread your Wings 2026

What comes after graduation? Will you begin an architectural internship? Start your career as an engineer? Pursue a PhD or research? Continue your studies? Or perhaps take some time to travel before entering the professional world?

To help master students explore these possibilities and make informed decisions about their future, we are organizing the Spread Your Wings event this September.

During this afternoon, three alumni will share their personal career journeys. They will talk about how they chose their first job, whether it met their expectations, the challenges they encountered, and how they have taken ownership of their professional development. Their stories will offer valuable insights into the many career paths available to architectural engineers.

Meet our speakers:

Nicolas Boghossian – a recent graduate, now working as a structural engineer at Ney & Partners, who will share his transition from university to professional practice.

Roel Derkinderen – collaborator at MODULO architects with nearly 15 years of experience, reflecting on his career and the lessons he has learned along the way.

Aline Vergauwen – after completing her PhD, Aline now contributes to the circular transition in the construction sector at Buildwise, where she bridges research and practice.

When and where?

All VUB & ULB master students in Architectural Engineering are welcome, Tuesday September 1, after the master thesis defences, in the design studio at VUB.
